Dan Ward Yoga School:
500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training 2022

For the first time, in 2022, Dan Ward Yoga School will be offering both:

200 hour Yoga Teacher Training

and

300 hour Yoga Teacher Training, presented in three 100 hour modules

Students can choose to take the 200, the 300, both together for a full 500, or one or more 100-hour modules. This is a great opportunity to begin your training to become a yoga teacher, complete the next level of training, or earn CEU credits towards a future goal of completing a more advanced training.

Dan Ward Yoga’s 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training program is the product of over 30 years of practice and study of yoga. Dan has led over a dozen teacher trainings at the 200 hour level.

The training will be presented as a hybrid program, combining live, in-person sessions–available via Zoom for out-of-town/international students or students who wish to remain physically distanced–with pre-recorded video lectures, small group study, and reading assignments.
Training sessions will be held in person at Shefayoga in Venice, CA during weekend hours beginning in January of 2022:

Friday 6-8pm
Saturday 9am-4pm
Sunday 9:30am-6:30pm

Dan Ward 200 hour YTT – January 7 – March 13, 2022

Let’s get down to brass tacks as we break down the fundamentals of the yoga practice.

The poses: how to practice and teach the building blocks of the yoga practice

The sequences: put the pieces together for maximum desired effect. Learn why tried and true formulas work and also be inspired to innovate based on your personal experience.

The philosophy: learn the essential underpinning of the yoga practice. Understand why yogic thought has endured over thousands of years (at least!)

The history: get clued in to where yoga came from and how it has evolved, adapted and been reimagined over time.

The ethics: wise up on how to practice and teach yoga for the right reasons and in a proper manner.

The business: get the lay of the land of today’s yoga scene and learn how to approach the real world issues that arise in teaching yoga in a capitalist system.

The teaching: by the end of training, you’ll create a class and teach it to your fellow trainees.

The community: bond with people locally and all over the world in a hybrid training that allows a group to get to know each other and BE THERE for each other on our seekers’ journey.

100 hour teacher training: The Voice of the Teacher – May 6 – June 5, 2022

This training builds on what you’ve learned and practiced in the 200 hour training and adds in the focus of developing your own voice as a teacher. Train your vocal instrument to be more subtle, powerful and effective, able to adapt to any room and format. Learn to rely on your voice to express your personal vibration that originates from the center of your being.

In this Advanced Teacher Training, you’ll practice voice and speech techniques to develop richness and range of your natural voice and gain a more varied vocal skill set in reaching your students.

This training will also be focused on Pranayama, the breath work of yoga. More difficult to teach than poses, pranayama instruction drops the students into a whole new level of sophistication in their practice. Learn a whole repertoire of usable pranayama practices and level up your teaching!

100 hour teacher training: Yoga Lit. And Advanced Sequencing – July 8 – August 7, 2022

As amazing as the practice of yoga is, it has inspired yogis over the ages to sit down to write about it, putting into words, the practice that in its essence is beyond language. Read the great works of yoga and make group presentations to expose yourself to the insights of those who have come before and put in the effort to share why yoga is what it is and what makes it so great.

This training will also take up a significant amount of time diving into advanced sequencing concepts. Absorb more complexity into your conceptual thought about what makes up a yoga class and learn to make it happen.

100 hour teacher training: Mentorship – September 9 – October 9, 2022

We don’t travel the yogic path alone. There are friends along the way. Those who have travelled the road and can point out the beauty and also the pitfalls. In this training, Dan makes more time for each individual student to share their trials, tribulations, hopes, dreams and plans for their future in yoga. A line of communication opens up that continues on long after the training’s end. The door is always open and Dan wants to help and nurture you in your journey in yoga today, tomorrow and beyond.

In this training we also will study, explore and discuss The Upanishads, the crown jewel of Yoga Philosophy.
